Courses are designed to prepare students to obtain their NDE certification
in accordance with NRCan CGSB-48.9712 requirements.

Overview

Non-destructive Examination (NDE) courses are offered by the GISS NDE Training Centre. Courses are designed to prepare students to obtain their NDE certification in accordance with NRCan CGSB-48.9712 requirements. Our courses provide the classroom theoretical training required for certification, as well as the practical requirements for a fully prepared NDE trainee. Training courses take place during the day at our Calgary or Edmonton facilities, 8:00am to 5:00 pm with an hour lunch break. Periodic coffee breaks will be scheduled by the instructor on an as needed basis. We are flexible an Aboriginally partnered company and as such we can deliver NDE courses on your site with the minimum student requirement of 10 students. All training equipment will be provided by GISS and a minimum of one NDE level 2 or 3 certified instructor to conduct the training.

Certification

Applicants who intend to apply for NRCan CGSB-48.9712 NDE certification are responsible for verifying their own eligibility with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). The NDT Certifying Agency of NRCan is an independent body that certifies individuals according to the National Standard of Canada, CAN/CGSB-48.9712-2014 "Qualification and Certification of Non-Destructive Testing Personnel".

Note: GISS provides training only towards the educational requirements of certification.

Materials & Processes Training Pre-requisite

Prior to taking any NDE training courses all students must complete the 40 hour Materials & Processes (M&P) course or provide evidence acceptable to GISS that they have successfully passed an M&P examination administered by a NDT Accepted Training Organization(NATO).

Math Training Pre-requisite

Any student planning to take an Ultrasonics course will be required to pass the GISS math skills test or provide evidence acceptable to GISS that they have successfully passed a math examination administered by a NDT Accepted Training Organization(NATO).
